The Pain of Arthritis

This is a tribute to my sister Jude. who had a congenital hip condition resulting in 7 hip replacements in her lifetime. She died of cancer when she was just 50 years of age.
I sculpted it from Puriri I scavenged in a Kaikohe pine forest. I love the way the wood expresses the pain Jude felt in her body. It was hard not to make this piece more perfect, and leave it be.
