Meet Ian Harvey

Creative Sculpture Maker
Discover the artistry of Harvey, a sculptor dedicated to shaping the dialogue between organic forms and contemporary design. With a refined understanding of balance, texture, and materiality, Ian's work is a harmonious blend of natural inspiration and sophisticated execution.
Harvey has worked with wood one way or another since he was nine years old, beginning with demolishing an old house to build a fort with friends. Though basic, at the time they thought they had built a castle. What started as simple childhood creations grew into a lifelong passion.
In his teens, he began pruning trees and is now a trade he has practiced for 50 years. This work taught him that to see sculpting in nature, you need to 'take away' to reveal the finished form. Harvey also developed a love for felling and milling macrocarpa, crafting fences and structures on his family farm.
Harvey's approach to sculpture is self-taught, shaped by trial and error, and inspired by artists like Henry Moore. He believes art is all around us and his goal is to make it more accessible to everyone.
While Harvey has previously sold work privately, he is now excited to share it more widely. His first public exhibition was at the 2025 Kimbolton Sculpture Festival, where he was honoured to receive the Merit Sculpture Award.

My Philosophy
To Sculpt Meaningful Dialogues
My mission is to explore the profound connection between the organic and the engineered. I create limited-edition sculptures that serve as serene focal points, sparking contemplation and enriching the spaces they inhabit. Through collaborations with collectors, designers, and institutions, I aim to bring a unique narrative and depth to environments, turning spaces into places of thoughtful engagement.
A Fusion of Craft and Consciousness
I'm committed to a process where traditional woodworking mastery meets contemporary design, where each piece honors the innate spirit of the material while achieving forms of sophisticated simplicity. By prioritizing sustainably sourced woods and a philosophy of intentional creation, my work reflects a deep respect for nature, reimagined through a lens of technology.
